Iron born

I severely doubt I'm going to make it to anything better than Bronze, if that. I mean, I just can't be bothered to put time and effort in if I have no winrate. Meh, I will clear the reload bonus if they throw that up.

However, very soon I may have a winrate! I'm getting a coach. I've told them most of my story. I've told them I suck. I'm under no illusions anymore. I've asked for a cheap-o coach who will help me achieve 5+BB @ FTP 1/2. That's all I want. If I can get that with his help, I can play full time. If I can get that, I will want to actually play. Sure, I'll go through some bad patches. Suckouts happen to every player, winning and losing. But if I'm banking 5BB + 27% RB, I'll be happy to put in 6hrs of 4-tabling every day. That's roughly $3k a month in rakeback, which is enough to cover living expenses. Obviously, I'll be living pretty poorly but it's not that bad. A far cry from a mega balla though. And, obviously, once I'm a solid winning player, my BR will increase to the point where I play 2/4. Hmm, interestingly enough, the RB only increases by 1/6th; you have to be playing 5/10 to see a dramatic increase.

I also think I need to point out that once I am winning, I'll be making money instead of losing it/breaking even on it. So, if I were winning at 5BB I could choose to pay myself 1BB, which plus RB would be 5.8k p.m. if I ground that much per month.

If you want to be more pragmatic, half it. It's still 2.95 p.m. Maybe not much to some people but more than I make from my day job sadly enough.

And again

Again. KK23 on AK4ss flop. Pot, call. Turn 8, pot, call. River 5, pot, raise all-in. I runner-runnered the wheel bitch, what it do? Call. Board is AK485, I play 23, he plays 67 and was drawing to an eight high flush. Jesus christ. How can people play so fucking bad and always win? I have like 80% equity on the flop, 60 on the turn. NO GOOT. Obviously I'm folding to a spade, or calling if I think I'm getting odds to draw. So, in reality, I have 94 equity on the flop, & 70 on the turn since I'm paying off a spade never.

Fucking poker. Made quad Kings twice. Quite surprisingly they won. I know, I was amazed too...

What it do

New blog devoted exclusively to poker. Probably not going to include any HH's unless it's a pot over 400BBs.

November is over. So far on Full Tilt I have broken even, at best. It's hard to say for certain. I've put 1.6k in. I have 1.6k now. I've cleared two bonuses for 1.1k. So I should have 2.7k. Plus RB. I lost 1.1k at 2/4. So, there goes my bonus. My RB has gone to paying for a coaching/sweat session.

In conclusion, I suck. Calling off a buyin with AK-high was probably not a good idea in retrospect.

Good news is 3-bet.net is alive so I should be able to get some coaching. I've also been watching a shit load of CR videos. And not playing too much poker.

Although, from what I've seen, most of these videos have losing/breakeven sessions. Stinger had a good one on FTP. You know how? Raise KK, oh look, top set. KK again, oh look, top set. Raise 88, oh look, middle set. I mean come the fuck off it.

Thinking about making my own member contribution video, a la Tuff_Fish. Obviously, I don't think I have anything to teach but if I articulate my thought process then hopefully someone can point out my critical errors. Technical issue is that I would have to record the audio using my ibook since I have no mic anywhere else. I also think this might be a good thing to show to a coach/prospective coach. One interesting thing about CR videos is I have yet to see one with PAHUD up. I understand that typically GP/AW/et al. don't have any stats on the players since they don't play the stakes but I haven't seen them in any of the guest pro videos either. Slightly strange, no?

Um, I'm only looking to pay ~$100 an hour for coaching. Sure, the premium coaches are better but I just need someone to get me 5PTBB+ at 1/2. You don't need a $250+/hr coach for that.

I haven't played a lot of poker all week. None today, yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother. Just watch CR videos instead. Considering how I am playing/running, it's probably +EV.

However, I did play some yesterday. FT has added SSNL HU tables down to .5/1. My HU games is weak shit so I decided to get in some practice. As is standard, I ran bad (SB open folded to me when I had TT+/AQs+ a lot) and played meh. Doubled up a SS. Kind of unavoidable, AJ on AQ44 board, I bet turn for value, he moves in for a little more than a minraise. Baluga theorem says fold but I was pot stuck. J4 is goot. Play a little more, I take some monies back off him, and he leaves up 20/30BBs. Then aggro fucktard sits. After a few hands I figure he must be a decent player and search. He's multitabling 2/4 as well. Ideal, the kind of fucktard that runs over me in 6max. Excellent learning opportunity. I double him up since he just runs me the hell over. Big hand was I 3bet him with T9s. 2 barrel, he moves in. I say: "Seriously". I mean, I wasn't 3betting too light that often and he picks off my bluff expertly. I had 3bet him a few times with big Aces and whiffed. He'd floated or raised me both times. Essentially he has playing perfectly according to the FTOP. I then sat out and went on a tilt rant. After that, I watch him drop some buyins pushing with shit and people having at least a pair to call him with. Then I sit against 'wtfsvi'(?), the guy that dropped 20k at PPBJ. I take 80BB or something off him by actually hitting some flops (overpair, pair+fd). We joke a bit. I ask him WTF he's playing 100NL, he says he's busto and rebuilding. I tell him I'm leaving soon. Raise 78, flop an OESD. He c/rs me on a flushy flop. I call seeing if I can hit one of my 6 outs. Nope. End the session soon after. I was asking him to teach me and how to stop sucking etc. He says I actually played pretty well. Meh.

So I just finished playing 100PLO. Tried applying some of the concepts Muddy/Stinger talk about. None of them work. A raise at this level is called by at least 2 people, normally 3 or 4, at a 6 handed table. That means whatever you raise has to hit the flop hard, and well, it doesn't very often. So after doing that for a few orbits I start limping behind the other fags, trying to hit sets or better. I did hit a few sets, they all got outdrawn. I paid off in a few places that I think are folds. E.g. I runner-runner a straight on a paired board and call river, dude shows a higher runner-runner straight. I made none of my own draws. Didn't play draws fast because I didn't flop anything better than a FD. No combo draws or shit like that.

I now realise Omaha is a form of poker and therefore I hate it too. Why can't I make money doing something I enjoy? Oohh, I raise! I fold! I check! I call! Exciting fucking stuff. Seriously, I cannot understand how people can play this crap 'just for fun'. It is pretty much the worst computer game imaginable.

Now, I play to try and make money. If it weren't for that carrot there is no chance I'd bother with this bullshit. I don't care about outplaying people or becoming the best. I just want money. If I won the lottery for $LARGE_JACKPOT, I would never play again. Of course I don't play the lottery...

PokerSoccer's graph. Beat: He lost more than I've made from poker.
